Green Chile Egg Bake
Whole green chiles make the perfect base for this easy six ingredient dish, ready with 10 minutes prep and 25 minutes in the oven. Perfect for breakfast and brunch, and makes easy to heat leftovers for a lunch box, and next day breakfast or dinner.
Pair it with organic corn tortillas or allowable grain toast. Top it with sliced olives, salsa, sliced avocado or Nourishing Traditions turkey sausage. (As of this writing I am not an Amazon affiliate. This is just too good not to share.) Double it in a 9 X 13 dish for a bigger crowd and more leftovers.
Can 'Hatch' whole green chiles
1/8 cup sour cream
2 cups grated cheese. I used smoked cheddar and Gouda.
2 tsp. Herbamare ®
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spread a Tbsp of walnut oil around bottom and sides of 8 X 8 glass baking dish.
Rinse green chiles and open to splay out, remove any seeds. Pat dry on paper towel.
Arrange to cover bottom of baking dish.
Whisk eggs; Add sour cream; Whisk until well combined.
Add Herbamare® and whisk.
Pour in baking dish.
Top with cheese.
Bake on middle rack of oven for 15 minutes. Then check every 5 minutes until center is set. It will puff up. Done! Serve piping hot with accompaniments.
